RALPH LAUREN ROMANCE EDP

Hello everyone! Let's talk about an oldie today, shall we?

I was introduced to Romance by Ralph Lauren as a freshman at the university. Although at that time I was wearing Burberry Women the classic 90's vanilla every single day, Romance was the louder and more frisky interpretation of what freshness and being bold meant. This perfume is one of those that I will never get tired of. I think not too many people were wearing this and I immediately found it to be very exotic. I felt so comfortable wearing it, as if it was made for my nose. This is in no way a linear perfume. I love how it evolves, blossoms and opens up on the skin.

The perfume was created by Harry Fremont in 1998. He was born in Cannes. In 2017 Fremont was awarded the Perfumer of the Year Lifetime Achievement by the Fragrance Foundation.

The top notes in Romance are: ginger, chamomile, lemon, freesia and rose. The heart of he bouquet consists of: lily, carnation, lotus and white violet. The base notes are: woods, patchouli, oakmoss and white musk.

The mix of all is so interesting, that in the beginning I can sense a phantom of apple note. I could swear it is there, and obviously I am not the only one to think so. The opening is slightly similar to Ralph. Later the lemon, ginger, rose and carnation come forward and it becomes more floral at that point. The drydown is really sensual with the calming patchouli, musk and oakmoss. It really beautifully develops on the skin, stays for the whole 8 hours. It is romantic, fresh, clean and a very happy fragrance! I feel nostalgic every time I wear it!

In my opinion so many beautiful fragrances were created in 1990s. The original formulations were simply incredible. Hope you can get the one from that era to sniff. I am sure it will not leave anyone unhappy! So long then!
